A talking microwave
Working for a tech company has its ups and its downs. I am not at the talking microwave phase just yet, but it certainly sounds like something that would impress my popcorn.
Without technology.. Where would we be? For starters, My routers would have no battery backup. Alexa wouldn’t be arming my security system, locking my car, recording whoever drops of packages, judging my outfits, changing the colors of my lights, or ordering me a pizza. I remember exactly how much work it used to be to implement my own CCTV system, and use it to… Well.. Talk to my dog when I was gone.. But hey.. Dog is mans best friend right? Trust me, it’s worth it.
Things have come a long way since the dawn of the Apple computer, PC, and Amazon Kindle. I think its fascinating how much it’s all changed. The internet has revolutionized how we do everything. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I used a laptop or a pc. Why? Well… There’s really not much of a need for one. The answers of our questions can usually be asked without lifting a finger. That is.. if you know how to set up that kind of stuff.
Well.. I will humbly admit that I do. When I ask my TV to turn on. It just turns on. When I ask my tv to turn off. It just turns off. I feel like we finally live in a world where technology is actually put to good use. Although, I never really put too much trust in the cloud. For example, I was supposed to “notify” my manager that I was leaving work using a new app.. Well… That froze up the computer and it glitched out on me.
Every now and then I come across that guy who says, “I’ll be dammed if I let big brother listen in on me. I would never order a device that listens all the time” While I find your paranoia intriguing. I am also aware that if “big brother” wants to listen to you, or see you I am just about positive that can be done anyway. Yeah, even if you turn off your cell phone. Sorry buddy. But hey, I am sure Amazon sells a faraday box, and some anti-wifi paint for that bunker of yours.
Listen, my point is.. We are living in the most impressive of times. I wish people would smile more, talk more, and get out more. I think in some ways the better things get, the less efficient humans are. But hey, don’t take my word for it. You’re the one texting the person right next to you.
